We asked your favorite stylists to share key ways to achieve (and keep!) beautiful, healthy hair.

Paula (color and balayage expert), Mari (junior stylist), and Rosalia (color and precision haircuts ) are here to share their expertise and experience on the matter.  Scroll to read.

1. REGULAR HAIRCUTS

“The secret to healthy hair in my opinion is to get regular haircuts, hair dustings, and trims”, says Color and Precision Haircut Specialist, Rosalia Delgadilo.

“What many clients don’t realize when trying to grow their hair out is that you still need to get haircuts every 2-3 months if you want long, healthy hair,” shares Color and Balayage expert, Paula Garbowska.

Getting a haircut once a year with the intent of growing your hair will actually backfire on you as the split ends will continue to travel up causing more dryness, more damage and more split ends.

“Taking off 1/2- 1 inch every couple of months will actually work in your favor long term and give you healthy, full, long hair!” Paula adds.

2. LIMIT WASHING TO A MINIMUM

Chances are, if you’re washing more than three times a week, you are robbing your hair of its protective oils. “Over-washing the hair strips away the natural oils and proteins that our hair and scalp need to be healthy”, shares Junior Stylist, Mari Llangari.

Signs of over washing include:

  • Dry, flakey scalp
  • Getting more split ends than usual
  • Hair color is fading fast
  • Hair loses its shine

Pay attention to the little signs your hair is giving you to help you come up with a washing schedule that works.

3. HAIR REPAIR AND HYDRATION

Dehydration occurs when your hair has no moisture in it. This results in brittle, weak hair that is prone to breakage.

“Add hair treatments for hydration especially after your color service, ” expressed Rosalia. “Treatments for hair repair is also a must for healthy hair.”

The primary benefit of hydrating treatments is that they keep your hair moisturized. They lock in moisture to prevent your hair from drying out and becoming brittle.

Adding reparative hair masks, using leave-in conditioners and nourishing oils are a few small changes that can make a big difference to the health of your hair.

There is a long list of TO DOs in order to keep your locks healthy, but the 3 points mentioned above are the most important. For more #hair101 #hairtips #haireducation and #hairinspo follow us on social media, Instagram: @roguehousesalon . Let’s stay connected!
